Soz announces Rs 10 lakh for AMK Cultural Complex
Hailing the efforts of Adbee Markaz Kamraz in promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language, Member Parliament Prof Saif-u Din Soz today announced ten lakh rupees more from MPLADS for the under-construction Cultural Complex at Kanispora Baramulla. Speaking in a literary function organised by AMK at Sherwani Hall Baramulla, Soz said AMK is a movement and it has achieved important milestones in promoting Kashmiri language and literature. “AMK is a movement and it has a lot of achievements to its credit,” he said. He said AMK should take its activities into schools and colleges as well.
Announcing ten lakh rupees more from MPLADS for the under-construction Cultural Complex of AMK at Kanispora Baramulla, Prof Soz asked the district administration to look into the possibilities of providing more land for the Complex. In response to the demand of AMK tointroduce Kashmiri as a compulsory subject in 9th and 10th classes, Soz assured his support saying he would be writing a letter to chief minister in this regard. Terming the Kashmiri daily Sangarmal as an important milestone for promotion of Kashmiri language, Prof Soz emphasized that such efforts need to be supported by all lovers of mother tongue. Prof Soz also visited the site of Cultural Complex and took stock of the ongoing work there.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Langate Er Rasheed while hailing the work of AMK said its efforts for preservation and promotion of Kashmiri language need to be supported. “Kashmiri language is our identity and no nation can afford to lose its identity,” he said. Er Rasheed suggested that the signboards of Civil Secretariat and other government offices should be written in Kashmiri as well. “Such steps will immensely help in promotion of our mother tongue,” he asserted. was released in the function. Noted poets and writers Prof Muhammad Zaman Azurdah and Prof Shad Ramzan presented review of the book. In his welcome address President AMK Dr Aziz Hajni reiterated AMK demand of introducing Kashmiri as a compulsory subject in 9th and 10th classes. He sought help of conscientious politicians in AMK efforts of promotion of Kashmiri language. Besides Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bashir Ahmad Bhat and other senior officers of the district, a galaxy of poets and writers attended the literary event. General Secretary AMK Dr Shujaat Bukhari conducted the proceedings.
