SAL holds annual conference

Expressing concern over the growing disconnect of younger generation with the linguistic traditions, speakers including bureaucrats and scholars on Sunday urged literati to connect youth with their mother tongue, culture, and tradition.

A galaxy of intellectuals, scholars and bureaucrats who participated in a day-long annual literary conference here in Khumriyal Kupwara urged them “to bridge the growing gap between youngsters and the cultural tradition”.

The conference was organized Shehjar-i-Adab Lolabi which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jehangir. President Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) Jammu and Kashmir Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari was Guest of Honor while  Dr Muhammad Maqbool Lone Additional Professor at SKIMS was Chief Guest and General Secretary AMK Muhammad Amin Bhat shared the podium in the first session.
On the occasion two books “Cheenwan” by Abdul Ahad Masroor, “Dam Ganeemath” by Muhammad Sultan Shouq were relaesed.
A literary magazine of Shejar-i-Adab Lolab was also released on the occasion.
Muhammad Maqbool Fayiq presented an introductory paper for the book “Cheenwan” while Farooq Shaheen presented paper on book “Ganeemath”
In his presidential address, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jehangir expressed concern over the lack of consciousness among youngsters about their tradition, culture and language.
Deputy Commissioner said that youngsters should come forward to save their mother tongue.
He said that need of the hour is to bridge the gap between youngsters and Kashmir culture and language.
“Youngsters are far away for the their tradition, language and literature which is a concern” Jehangir said,

Understanding the gravity of technological impact on the Kashmir literati and literature, States largest literary organization Adbee Markaz Kamraz Jammu and Kashmir President Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari urged critics, poets and writers to come forward to produce the literature of quality and class.
Bukhari said the challenge of technology and globalization for writers, poets and story tellers can only be overcome by production of literature of quality.

Speaking in the conference organized by Shehjar-i-Adab Lolab in Khumriyal Kupwara Bukhari said that quality literature is a must to keep pace with globalization.
“Qualitative literature is only response to growing technological current and can be contained when critics come forward to improve the literature with healthy criticisms” Bukhari said.
Commenting on the role of literary organization in general and units of AMK in particular Bukhari said that the literary units across the valley especially those affiliated with AMK are doing good service to literature by providing space to youngsters who he said are always in search of platform to speak their heart out.

Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing literary movement, Bukhari said that lovers of language, culture, writers and poets across the State are praising the efforts of AMK towards preservation of Kashmri language.
He said that writers are crediting AMK for taking back Kashmiri language into the classrooms after decades.
Bukhari reiterated the demand of converting dwelling of Moulana Nawar Kashmir into a heritage site.
He urged government to speed up the work in turning the dwelling into heritage house.
General Secretary AMK Muhammad Amin and Dr Lone,  also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier Rashid Manzoor President Shehjari Adab welcomed the guests while Nazir Masroor held the proceedings.
Among the others who were present on the occasion include Secretary AMK Mir Tariq Rasool, President Literary Forum Mubshir Saleem Naki, Mansoor Muntazir, Gul Tanveer, Rashid Roshan, Muhmmad Yusuf Sameem, Mushtaq Sopori, Muhmad Yousuf Mashoor, and Gulzar Jaffar.

Two poetic sessions, one sponsored by Department of Information and other sponsored by Cultural Academy Srinagar was held on the occasion.
