KCF Kreeri organizes literary conference

Writers call for  strengthening linguistic movement to preserve Kashmiri language

Srinagar,Nov 2:Calling upon the writers to involve the people in the linguistic movement to preserve Kashmiri language, Secretary J & K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Aziz Hajini Thursday said the struggle had to be fought on more than one front.Hajini was speaking at the one-day literary conference organized by Kruhen Cultural Forum (KCF) Kreeri. Lauding the role of cultural and literary organizations in rejuvenating the struggle for protecting and promoting the language, he said: “Kreeri has huge contribution in making the language movement vibrant and discovering the writers keeping in view its glorious history of producing legendaries in the field.”
“If we don’t mention Kreeri in the history of culture and literature it will be incomplete,” he added.

However, he asked writers to shun their egos and get united.“Governments cannot save the language. It is the responsibility of the people, parents of children and above all the language activists,” he said. Recalling that Kreeri used to be hub of literary activities, he said: “There is no need of having many organizations but putting our heads together for the cause of language is need of the hour.”
Hajini who was the chief guest on the occasion, hailed KCF for what he called being the pivot in giving a direction to language movement and introducing new writers.
Noted poet Zarif Ahmad Zarif who presided over the daylong event said that Kreeri had a special place as far as culture is concerned.
“Yours is a fertile land and you should be proud of your past,” he told gathering, adding: “You should not lag behind in what your ancestors have done.”
Zarif lauded Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) Jammu and Kashmir for its role in getting Kashmiri language back to school curriculum.
KCF is a constituent of AMK.
AMK general secretary Mohammad Amin Bhat said that their effort was to strengthen its 22 constituents so that “we achieve our goal of not only paying tribute to our language but also working for its preservation and protection”.
AMK president Syed Shujaat Bukhari pointed out that he was missing the vibrancy in cultural engagement in the area and urged writers to produce quality literature that could be part of our rich repository.

Educationist and Printer, Publisher and Editor of Rising Kashmir and founder of Kashmiri daily Sangarmal Prof Syed Rafiuddin Bukhari said that literature humanizes a person.
“It makes lot of difference when you study literature. Science may give you money but literature makes you real human being,” he said adding that writers have a responsibility towards the society.

KCF patron Syed Saduddin Saidi reminded the authorities about the contribution of various literary personalities of the area. He urged them to publish their works so that it reaches to people.
Young writer Syed Sarwar Hashmi presented a paper on the contribution of writers in Kruhen area of Baramulla district. Poet Nooruddin Hosh presented a short story which was appreciated by the audience. KCF’s annual journal Anhaar was also released on the occasion.
Earlier KCF president Syed Nazir Hussain Hussain welcomed the guests and general secretary Syed Sharif Qadri presented the annual report.
SHO Kreeri Inam Assad who is also a poet recited his latest poem. Imam Khateeb Syed Sharif ul Haq offered prayers for the departed souls of Mohammad Ahsan Ahsan, Atiqa Bano, Saifi Sopori and Prof G M Shad who passed away recently. Tributes were also paid to Jawahar Lal Suroor.
Among others who attended the conference included Mushtaq Sopori, vice principal Government Higher Secondary School Kreeri, Fayaz Tilgami, Haji Ghulam Mohammad Wani, Habibullah Javed, BMO Kreeri Dr Javid Iqbal, Syed Shamim Ahmad, Syed Ashiq Qadri, Syed Mushtaq Qadri, Roshan Qamar, Rashid Roshan, shabnum Tilgami, Aadil Ismail, Jameel Ansari, Azhar Hashmi, Hassan Darvesh, Nadim Bukhari, Mumtaz Rashid, Riyaz Rabbani and Habibullah Hablal.
A Mushaira by Cultural Academy was also held on the occasion.
