Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) decided to hold this year’s annual “Kashir Conference” at Charar-e- Sharief on September 17-18, in which, besides other issues, the importance of “language movement” for the promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language will be discussed. Meanwhile, AMK has yet again expressed resentment against the stoppage of monetary assistance to the literary and cultural organisations of the state.
An important meeting of AMK executive council was held today at Sopore in which the office bearers and representatives of all the literary and cultural organisations belonging to the AMK participated. After thorough deliberations, it was decided that the 32nd annual “Kashir Conference” this year will be held at Charar-e- Sharief on September 17-18. In the two day conference, besides other literary and cultural issues, threadbare discussions will be held on the relevance and importance of “language movement” vis-à-vis promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language and literature. Poets and litterateurs of the State will participate in the discussions and papers will be presented on the subject. Further details about the conference will be announced in coming days.
Meanwhile, in the meeting AMK yet again expressed resentment against the government putting on hold the monetary assistance due to the literary and cultural organisations of the state which are provided to them through Cultural Academy. The biggest and oldest federation of the literary and cultural organisations of the State said the stopping of monetary help to the literary organisations has badly affected the functioning of around two hundred literary and cultural organisations in the State. It said that such an attitude by the government is ominous not only for Kashmiri language but also for general literary and cultural scenario of the State. AMK has appealed to the chief minister for his personal intervention into the grave issue. “If this dismal approach of the government continues, then the poets and litterateurs of the State will be compelled to come on roads to lodge their protest,” it said.
