(AMK) has expressed displeasure state awards

Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) has expressed displeasure over ignoring in the state awards the media persons and institutions, who have contributed immensely for promotion of Kashmiri language and literature in the state.

In a press statement today, AMK spokesman said that some conscientious media persons and institutions since many years are voluntarily working for promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language and literature and the government is expected to encourage such individuals and organisations. “But it is sad that government continues to ignore such selfless efforts at the time of felicitating media persons and literary organisations on Republic Day,” he said adding such approach from the government belies its own claims of its seriousness towards promotion of Kashmiri language and literature. Referring to the awards for literary personalities announced the other day on the occasion of Republic Day, the spokesman said Kashmiri poets and writers  and Kashmiri language itself has not got its due  recognition. “The continued negligence of the government toward Kahsmiri language and literature is yet again evident,” he said. “But despite the discouraging approach from the government, AMK and other individuals and organisations who work in coordination with the State’s only literary federation will continue their selfless efforts for the cause of Kashmiri language,” AMK maintained.

Meanwhile, AMK has congratulated local news-gathering agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) for being awarded for its exceptional work.
