Srinagar, Feb 07: Taking the efforts to promote Kashmiri language across the Line of Control (LoC), Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) has nominated two prominent literary personalities from Muzaffarabad and Lahore for its advisory board.
The announcement in this regard was made in AMK executive council meeting held at its head office in Sopore. Prof Nusrat Nissar, head of Kashmiri department at University of Lahore and Syed Altaf Andrabi, a noted poet and writer from Muzaffarabad will be part of the 15-member Advisory Board, the important consultative body of AMK comprising prominent literary personalities of the state.
“It (Advisory Board) is constituted every three years to guide the organization in its endeavors of promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language,” a statement issued by AMK said.
It is for the first time that the Advisory Board has been expanded from five to 15 members with an aim to benefit from the scholarly advice of eminent literary personalities from all parts of the state.
The other members of the newly-formed Advisory Board are Muhammad Yousuf Taing, Prof Muhammad Zaman Azurdah, Ghulam Nabi Gowhar, Prof Nasim Shafai, Brij Nath Betab, Wali Muhammad Aseer, Bashir Bhaderwahi, Dr Farooq Fayaz, Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq, Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Shahbaz Rajourvi, Ghulam Nabi Aatash and Dr Shafqat Altaf.
“The inclusion of two prominent Kashmiri literary personalities in AMK Advisory Board from Lahore and Muzaffarabad will not only help in further promoting Kashmiri language and literature, but also strengthen cultural and literary ties across the LoC,” said AMK General Secretary, Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari.
He said there was a good chunk of Kashmiri speaking people in Pakistan and the other parts of Kashmir.
In yet another important decision, AMK Executive proposed to hold the ‘Annual Kashmiri Conference’ in Poonch this year.
“This will boost the literary and cultural bonding via Mughal Road,” the meeting observed.
Meanwhile, AMK expressed concern over the delay in releasing the grant-in-aid from Cultural Academy and urged the government to take earnest steps to release the money.
The meeting was chaired by senior vice president AMK, Atiqa Banoo and attended among others by Dr Bukhari and noted poet Fayaz Tilgami.
