A six-member delegation of Adbee Markaz Kamraz called on Governor   

Jammu, February 08: A six-member delegation of Adbee Markaz Kamraz called on Governor, N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan here on Monday and submitted a memorandum of demands which include introducing teaching of Kashmiri language in the 9th standard from the current academic session in the valley, introducing teaching of the language in the Kashmiri speaking areas of Jammu region, activating Markaz-e-Noor Chair, Institute of Kashmir Studies and Kashmiri Department in the University of Kashmir and setting up of a Kashmiri Department in the Jammu University.

Other demands highlighted by the deputation included telecasting of programmes in Kashmiri language from Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu, and increasing timeslots and periodicity of programmes broadcast from Radio Kashmir, Jammu, in this language.

The deputation comprised literary personalities, Prof Rehman Rahi, Muhammad Yousf Taing, Shehbaz Rajorvi, Mohan Lal Aash, President of Adbee Markaz Kamraz, Dr Aziz Hajini and its General Secretary, Syed Shujaat Bukhari.

The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputation and enquired from them about the activities of their organization. He emphasized the urgent need for effective revival and promotion of literary and intellectual activities in the State.

Referring to the demands projected in the memorandum, the Governor assured the deputation that these would be taken up with the State Government.
