CULTURAL TRUST KUPWARA

Kupwara, Kashmir

CULTURAL TRUST KUPWARA has been established in the year 1973 by a group of learned scholars lead by Dr Zahid Sogami who was the first academic to have been awarded the Ph.D in History in the then tehsil Kupwara. Though he did not live long but the candle of social, cultural and literary activities in the form of Cultural Trust Kupwara survived on.
Cultural Trust Kupwara is one of the oldest and registered organisation of the Kashmir Valley that has been serving the society in academic, educational and social awareness through seminars ,symposia, mushairas and other literary activities on its own and also in collaboration with the Department of Information J&K and Academy of Art, Culture & Language,Jammu and Kashmir. This literary organisation publishes two journals -one in Kashmiri language  known as IMKAAN and one in Urdu known as ANJUMAN. This organisation has almost a hundred  members. The organisation does not receive any funds for carrying it's literary activities in the district except for the membership collected annually from its basic members. The funds used to be received from the Cultural Academy previously but for last many years nothing was alloted to it for the cultural activities.
Mr Ayub Khan Dilber is presently the serving President of the Trust.
It is worth mentioning that the Cultural Trust Kupwara is now an amalgam of almost 13 local organisations whose members are included in the Cultural Trust for a time frame of 02 years and then replaced by the new members of their respective units. These include the Executive Council as well.
